FREE TO DREAM™ is helping ignite a new renaissance powered by people’s dreams for a just and joyful future, and creating the conditions necessary for these dreams to come true. We offer programs and pathways in creative arts and self-expression to activate the dreams of people from high-potential communities, including students 12-18, Opportunity Youth 12-24, and systems impacted youth and adults who are currently incarcerated.

We were founded by multi-hyphenate entertainer, Common—a change-maker working at the intersection of art and activism for over 20 years.

I founded FREE TO DREAM™ because I know that dreams have the power to change lives. I started my journey as an artist with a dream on my mind. It was my Northstar and made me feel like I had purpose. And many times, having a dream and a purpose made the difference in choices I made for my future.

But a dream is not just about what you will do, it is an extension and expression of who you are. A dream is something that you discover for yourself. It is yours – it is up to you to claim it and nurture it.

The Dreamkeeper™ Resource Kit speaks to this principle. We start with giving ourselves the space to dream. Then we encourage students in setting their intentions, affirming their purpose and pursuing their passions. When a dream is rooted in your purpose, that is when it can evolve and grow into a vision that can have an even greater impact.

That is why we created these tools. It is a call to action. We are calling on young people to dream of just, joyful futures for themselves and our world. And we are calling on a movement of advocates, practitioners and mentors to be Dreamkeepers who will support these young people in achieving those dreams. We are calling on people to use these tools to unlock powerful, bolder new dreams.

But the first step is to accept the invitation.
